Being one of the newest of the underwater digital cameras, I had reasoned that surely the leak issues had been resolved. I bought this for snorkeling in Hawaii and on the second use, water got into it. Since I got the Stylus Tough 6020, I have already crashed while tree skiing, launching it into the snow. It survived the impact with a tree and landing in the slushy wet snow and kept recording the whole time. Also I can't wait to use the underwater feature on our next vacation. It also gives me some peace of mind knowing that it can be dropped from 5 foot and not be damaged. This is just something to help you out if you buy one. All of this was bought for $180. Unlike my old camera that broke after a day at the beach (sand got in the lens). This camera is still going strong after going to the beach every day for a week!
So, two days before my trip I returned this camera and bought a Sony TX5. The waterproof housing for the Olympus 6020 that makes it waterproof up to 120ft (for scuba) costs $339.00 while the waterproof housing for the Sony TX5, making it waterproof up to 120ft is $149.00 - and I got 15% off by buying the camera itself. The Stylus tough 6020 really lives up to its name. I'm a fishing guide in New York state and in the late fall and winter months it's the only camera you can use do to the colder weather.
We carry all the time for great memories. Amazing product as I dropped it in pool and forgot about it, found it after 30 minutes and this camera was working as normal as it was before! We used it "in" the falls and were very happy with the pictures that we developed. Got the usual flattering pictures of us in our ponchos getting soaked.
The screen is full of water. I am over it. At least Amazon let me return it! Bought a 6020 while on a cruise ship "it was the best they had".
Nice features. Best buy has it on sale for 269. If you open it while it is wet or your hands are wet, then you should expect problems. After videotaping under water, I waited the suggested time, and made sure it was all dry, then opened the camera up to hook up to my computer.
Wouldn't you want to know all that it does? This camera does a lot. While all of these were preventable, they don't detract from the overall value of this camera. I purchased this for upcoming travel in a harsh environment likely to test each of its waterproofing, shock proofing and dustproofing.
