Bristol is a bright cultural centre and is one of the grandest cities in the UK. Bristol's twenty-first century technological growth and innovation add to its historical times of slavery, discovery and piracy. It is an up-and-coming university city, which gives it a youthful vibration, and so people move from near and far to inspect. Everybody can find something that they like to do. Lately, Stag and Hen Nights have added to the cultural mixture, but do not take away from what the city offers.
There are plenty of road, rail or bus links to help you to get to your desired destination. There is something for everyone to savour. Examples are, attractions, parks, sports and leisure pursuits, different nightlife and shopping, of course. You are spoiled by the variety of types of accommodation available to you in the city, if you require to reside for one night or for an extended break.
With its life-size sunken ship, the Bristol Aquarium is a must-see amongst the attractions; rove through the seahorse show and watch the stingrays and tropical sharks sailing about in the water. In addition, At Bristol is a marvellous twenty-first century science and technology centre, filled to the brim with interactive hands-on activities that children and adults will adore, such as the chrome-plated, futuristic sphere that is the Planetarium. Visit the Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Brunel, if it is more preferable to be outdoors; or the Westonbirt National Arboretum with its 16 000 rare and attractive trees laid out in over 600 acres, with easy access. The Old Down Country Park is a more family type day, with animals for example reindeer, llamas and wallabies to look at. Why not have a drink in the cafe afterwards?
Go to see Banksy's work at Frogmore Street, Thekla and the Mild, Mild West for a more cultural experience. Banksy is a native of Bristol, who is an anonymous graffiti artist but is however, globally renowned and thought-provoking in his work. If you like to be scared then the Haunted and Hidden Bristol Tour is on a Friday evening. Instead, go to the Harbourside and place Pirate Pete who will narrate you of Bristol's Pirate past. To occupy an hour or two why not go to Cabot Circus or The Galleries, then to the Cinema Delux with its 13 screens!
Pay a visit to the Old City in the evening and have some food and drink at the oldest pub in the city the Llandoger Trow, then a bop at Mr Wolf's. If it is somewhere more upbeat you want then you could have a cocktail at Woo Woo or a drink at Las Iguanas. A more relaxed place is Racks Bar in Clifton Village. Oceana is a must if you like to go clubbing.
So, no matter who you are, there is something for you in Bristol.
