Making Money Using Internet Stock Photography Sites

By Allison Maggie Sanchez

Snap your shots as quickly as possible! If you hesitate, you may miss the moment you are trying to capture because of your subject moving. Photography is about capturing a moment, so be fast, and don't let the moment slip away.

A slightly blurred background is better for shots of people. If the background is just as in focus as the subject, it takes the eye away from where you the viewer should be looking. The easiest way to do this is to increase the distance between subject and background.

If you like the look of old photographs, pick up a vintage camera. These will give your pictures an old-fashioned look and a historical vibe. They can be found in pawn shops and second hand stores. For a dramatic shot, black and white film is great. Make sure you get one with an ISO of 200 for a good all-around film. Have prints made on a variety of different papers, including fiber-based, when you get the film developed.

Manually adjust the white balance before you snap a photo. Doing this will have a huge affect on the mood your pictures will have, and will give you more control over how each photograph will look. It takes some practice to get things right, but you can be more creative with your photos when you utilize manual white balance.

Add interest to a photograph by adjusting the focus at different points. You can focus on your subject more by using a smaller depth-of-field to blur the background. This is especially good for portraits. In contrast, using a larger depth of field (high f-stop value) puts the whole frame into focus. This is idea for landscapes.

If you are the photographer for a couple, family or group give them some pointers on what they should wear that will look good in the pictures. They don't need to look exactly the same, but complementary colors and shades are going to make the whole thing look much better. Recommend warm colors or neutral hues; these shades blend in well with a variety of different backgrounds. If your subjects absolutely have to wear bright, bold colors, try to get them to wear at least one item that is black in order to avoid a clash of colors.

Photography is an art form an should be approached that way. It should convey the message the photographer is trying to communicate. With picture taking, you want to pay attention to composition, which is very important. All good photographers must understand and shoot proper composition. People look at these photos to see what the photographer meant to do with the shots.
