A great photo requires good composition. Some people have a keen eye for setting up the perfect picture, while others usually have to work to get better at it. One of the many things you can do to spice up an otherwise bland photo is to move your subject away from the center of the shot.

Place the camera shot at eye level when taking portrait shots. This makes photos feel more personal and can draw people in. If you are taking pictures of small children, you may have to drop yourself down so that you are at their level.

Do not be afraid to direct the subjects in your photo where you need them. As the photographer, you may need to direct your subject to get a good shot. When you start doing this, you will notice an improvement in your pictures. This will be an improvement over your past photographs.

When you are taking landscape photos, mount your camera on a tripod. Establishing a steady base is important when you are taking photos, particularly when you are photographing landscapes because you can then adjust settings without shaking your camera.

It is a common misconception that bright, sunny days are perfect for taking pictures. Actually, a lot of sun can make it difficult to take useable photos. It casts strange shadows and creates glare, also causing uneven highlights; not only that, but subjects squint when looking at the camera. Outdoor shooting is always done best in early mornings or later evenings.

With the advice in this article, you can improve your ability to frame and capture your favorite subjects and life's special moments. Although mastery requires a lot of time, research and practice, it is well within the realm of possibility.
