Which picture for your canvas print?

By Amir Farhat

Print a precious photograph onto canvas and bring a personal touch to your home or make someone's day with a memorable gift. Canvas prints allow you to create your very own wall decoration, displaying an image that is personal to you. Selecting the best picture is essential however, if you want a striking print.

Firstly, take a look at where you intend to hang the print: think about how much space you have available and the best size for the canvas print. You don't need to limit yourself to one print; think about a series of smaller prints rather than one large one.

Think, too, about the style of the dcor in your home. You may find that some pictures will complement the decoration, both in terms of colour and subject, while others may clash or look out of place.

Working out how you want your canvas print to look before you start to sift through old photos should make your choice easier. While your attachment to the photo is important, design choices are too, and perhaps you will find that certain subject matters suit some rooms better than others: photos of family and friends will have sentimental value; pictures of places may be chosen more for their aesthetic value.

Lastly, you must ensure that any picture you choose is good quality. Images should be well defined, with a balanced composition and good contrast. If you are going to have the picture on display, you should make sure that it is worth looking at!

Choosing a picture is probably the hardest choice you will have to make when creating your canvas print. Once you have the perfect picture, just think about the format and frame that will best compliment your beautiful picture.
