How do you become a famous rock star?

By Charlie Sheen

Can you imagine yourself standing on a stage, in front of tens of thousands of adoring fans? Or maybe listening to the top 40, to discover whether you are thenumber one or not?

It would be difficult to go it alone, (well actually you could be a solo artist but that's not what we are discussing now) so you need to get a band together. You may well know some people who share your love and passion for music but even with them you could be missing some vital pieces.

Have you got all the pieces of your band you need? Lead axe wielder? Smooth Jazz saxophonist? The people in your group of friends might not be good enough so you could try searching on line to make up the numbers.

It might be more straight forward initially to start a band with your friends and associates but in the long run if things don't go according to plan then there could be some unforeseen fallout. Don't worry about that for now, you have loads of bad ass ideas for a name for your band, right?

Your chosen genre of music could have an influence on the name you chose. Blue Waterfall might not be the best name for a death metal band, for example. Passive Psychosis on the other hand (you can have that one for free) might be quite good.

Feel free to be as creative as you want when you come up with the name of your band. Try to avoid anything too cliched and obviously you want to make sure it isn't one another group is already using. Stuck for names? There are plenty of band name generators online.

There's a saying about the best inventions being 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration and the same goes for your new band. Be under no illusions, you have a lot of hard work ahead of you to get really good until you're ready for super stardom.

Keep practising. Start rehearsing with your band mates and come up with your own music, then practice and fine tune some more until you have some really good tunes.

Once you are ready try to play at some venues - doesn't matter how small, just get the experience of playing live and gigging as well as getting your music heard. You never know who's going to be in the audience listening.

When you start out you are going to have to be your own marketing department. To spread the word you can use old school methods like flyering as well as more up to date things like getting your own website, Facebook page, twitter account, etc to get your name known and connect with your fans.

Upload your music to YOUTUBE to get viral, once you've done that you've got more chance of getting your music heard, who knows who might see it and love your work.

The most important thing to remember is to be persistent but also be realistic, you aren't going to become Guns 'n' Roses overnight and let's not forgot you have to make and play music from your heart. Your fans won't believe in you or your music if you don't, always remember that.

Go for it, live your dreams, no one else will .
