Well, I just got back from one of the most bizarre, yet wonderful experiences of my life: the color run 5k. Now, I have participated in a lot of 5k runs, but this was a totally different experience from any of those. Right from the beginning, I could tell that this run would be a blast, as the website where I registered was really funny, and when I got to the event, I was amazed by how excited all of the staffers were.
Now if you are like I was a couple weeks ago, you probably have no idea what a color run 5k is, so let me explain it to you. When I got there, they gave me a registration packet, and as I looked inside I was thrilled to find a cool t-shirt, some sunglasses and some other cool stuff. I put my runner number on as well as my sunglasses, and I did some quick stretches as I waited for the starter pistol.
Once the race began, I set out at a nice pace, but I wasn't too concerned about winning the race, I was just there to enjoy myself and to get some good healthy exercise. After just a few minutes of running, we found ourselves enveloped in a delightful cloud of color. All along the way, there were volunteers standing at the sidelines, known as the Color Bomb Squad, who would bombard the runners with the beautiful colored powder.
This is the essence of the color run, and the reason everyone was having such an incredibly good time. I ran the entire five kilometers, getting a new coating of colors every few minutes, and by the time I reached the finish line, I was completely covered in vibrant color from head to toe, and I felt like a living, breathing rainbow.
At the finish line, everyone was celebrating and reveling in the wonderful feeling of camaraderie and laughing about the colorful patterns across their faces. I wished I could just stay in that moment forever, but unfortunately, it did finally come to an end, but I could keep the memory with me forever. It was so much fun that I wanted to go out and do another one right away, and when I heard about the color run San Diego was having soon, I decided it would be the perfect time to go out there to visit my sister, and participate in another fun-filled color run while I was there.
