Review of the new Furby

By Nathan Brown

As a kid I owned a couple Furby "Pets" and I loved them. Times have changed as technology has advanced, making the new Furby the hottest toy for Christmas 2012! The big plastic eyes have been replace with LCD eyes

If your child, grandchild, friend, etc., has asked for one this year, you may have thought to yourself, "What on earth is a Furby?" It is a robotic pet that interacts to various things you do. It will speak in "furbish", which is its own little language. Overtime, it will replace Furbish words with English words. This ability was thought to replicate someone learning a new language from scratch. This toy pet has several different interactions. Some include, shaking, tilting, tickling, talking, petting, feeding etc.

They have many moods and have the ability to switch between these moods at the drop of a hat. It has many new moods such as angry/tough to valley-girl. Depending on how you interact with it sets its mood. This tool really is very intuitive! Talk more and it starts talking more, cuddle and it becomes a cuddle bug. It closes its eyes and wiggles around, after flashing its lights and yelling "Me change" it has a new personality. Purchase more than one and they can interact with one another.

Guess what, there is an app for that. The new furby has Apps that can translate Furbish into English. These apps also allow you to feed your new pet, by flicking towards them in the app.

Unlike a Tamagotchi a furby cannot die. You do not have the ability to kill your pet by not feeding it, but you will have to deal with a very unhappy pet.

Worried that you new pet will not be quite, don't worry just stop playing with it and after a short while it will put its self to sleep. Once you are ready to play again just start interacting with them and it will come back to life.

Decide you don't want it anymore, one sure way to make it stop working is to run it under water. This is a top quality product, but like anything electronic it does not mix with water well.

There is no age recommendation. Kids of any age can benefit from this toy. Furby is great for teaching kids responsibility by taking care of their new pet. Take adults back to their child hood this Christmas season by giving them the updated pet they knew as kids.
