Corporate Attire: How To Dress Up For The Office

By Melvin Hernandez

Let us face it, not everybody is gifted with the talent to dress-up. The danger of being overdressed and underdressed is forever a problem for most of us. In fact, even fashionistas have the problem of conforming to the office's dress code while being fashionable as well. On the contrary, others go for comfortable clothes that they no longer adhere to the dress code. Here are few suggestions that might help you with your dress related concerns.

Keep your eyes open and watch. Look at what your colleagues and superiors are dressed in. This will give you an impression of the level of casualness or formalness of your office. The safest thing to do is to outline your outfit to what they are wearing.

Do not take risks and stick to the dress code. If the office dress code is corporate casual, stick to it. Others go way too far. For instance, if the office allows you to wear jeans to work, make sure they are proper jeans, not one that has been ripped to shreds. Decency is expected of you, especially in the workplace. Colour choice is important as well. Choose subtle colors over loud colours. Faint shades make you look more businesslike.

Don't compromise your comfort, after all, the more relaxed you are the more productive you turn out to be. Don't wear exactly what your supervisor is wearing if you are not comfortable in doing so. What you should do is find something similar that you are comfortable wearing. For case, do not wear high heels just because your superior wears it, especially if your work involves you on your feet for long durations of time. Instead wear flats that stick to the policies of the office dress code.

Lastly, make an effort to keep your face and head tidy and pleasant. Get a proper haircut and maintain appropriate haircut. Keep in mind that you can do anything in dressing up for the workplace. You can be bold and trendy or comfortable and simple. As long as you are not breaking any of the office dress code, go for it!
