Graduation Portrait: How To Prepare For The Photo Shoot

By Teresa Browning

Graduations are a highlight in a student's life that should be celebrated and remembered. Photos of graduates wearing their graduation gowns would make any parent proudly display them on the walls of their home. These photographs are going to stay there for quite a while and are likely to last from one generation to another. So make sure that for your own graduation photo, you look and feel your best.

So the question is, how do you make sure that you look good in your graduation picture? First off you don't have to be a model to look photogenic. All you have to do is look for a photography studio that is expert in capturing grad pictures. Remember not to pick just any typical Portrait photography Singapore studio, for not all those that deal with portrait photography take graduation portraits.

Now, you have to pick from a variety of graduation gowns the studio is offering. Pick the gown that fits your shoulders so the sleeves don't cover your hand. Remember that for your graduation picture, you would want to look smart and not frumpy or dull.

Wearing makeup will also make you look good in your grad photo. It will add glow to your face or make you look healthier especially if your skin tone looks pale.

You can do this by emphasizing your lips or your eyes, but not both. Choose light and fresh shades for your makeup as you most probably will wear a dark-colored graduation garb. Don't forget to arrange your hair to properly accommodate the graduation cap and check your appearance with your cap in the mirror.

But of course, there is an art and skill involved when taking photographs. For your graduation photo, you just have to learn the basics in capturing your best angle. Take a deep breath and relax. To bring your chest out and stomach in, sit up straight and pull your shoulders. To make your face look slim, turn your face slightly to the side.

Lastly, find a photography company in Singapore that use modern lighting equipment. Although Photoshop is considered as great post-processing software, it cannot enhance a bad photo.
