The youths are mainly attracted to jockeying for its association with super stars and being an easy way to achieve fame. Disc jockeying has grown rapidly as a result of the spontaneous sprouting of clubs, radio stations, television stations and entertainment spots. Nevertheless, before selecting deejaying as a career choice, one needs to comprehend a few things about how to become a dj.

Disc jockeying is a wide profession that can be categorized into four classes. The first class is comprised of mobile deejays who move from one party to another entertaining revelers. Their main jobs are found in birthday parties, weddings and banquets. They specialize in playing hit songs and taking requests from the audience.

The category of deejays found in clubs is known as club spin doctors. Their job entails keeping revelers and party goers entertained with a combination of energetic mixes, high tempo songs and chants. To undertake such a job, one needs to know how to scratch, mix beats, phase through songs and match. Hip hop spin masters are endowed with the task of backing up emcees during live gigs and facilitating rap battles.

The final category of deejays is comprised of radio jockeys who play music in radio stations. They transfer their entertainment skills from the clubs and concerts to keep listeners of radio stations engrossed and amused. In addition, these jockeys have to interview guests and celebrities on air and keep the discussions as interesting as possible. Radio jockeys choose the music play lists, operate complicated sound machines and inform the listeners about the weather and traffic conditions.

Currently, there are few if any, schools offering courses that train one to become a disc jockey. Nonetheless, there are a myriad of voice modulation crash courses and some basic skills such as phasing music, cutting and scratching. To qualify for this profession, one needs a smooth, enticing or catchy voice, a sense of humor, creativity, fresh ideas, wide knowledge of music and be witty. A fashion sense, slight attitude and being cocky are all part of the job. In summation, a sociable and like able personality is a plus for anyone considering disc jockeying as a career path.

To achieve success, a deejay must be capable of talking about general stuff and music in a way that keeps listeners engrossed and entertained. Keeping in mind that a large majority of radio listeners are youthful, the presenter must come up with fresh and innovative content that distinguishes him from other entertainers in the industry.

Many teenagers have the misconception that the profession is easy and just a lot of fun. Nevertheless, it requires hard work, commitment and discipline just like any other job. Working erratic hours in radio stations, recording studios, live parties and gigs is bound to exert monumental mental strain on anyone. In addition, these specialists are expected to always be bright and cheerful, politically correct and witty to entertain people.

In order to learn how to become a dj, an interested individual should try getting connections with an already successful industry professional. This way, one can learn the dirty tricks and twists of the game through apprenticeship.
