Tips On How To Tie A Fashion Turban

By Claudine MacDonald

If you're wondering why some people may choose to wear turbans, the reason can be one of many. To begin with, it serves as more than just an indicator of someone's religious beliefs. It can be used to mask the effects of hair loss caused by treatments like chemotherapy. It has also been a fashion accessory that goes in and out of fashion and has been making a reappearance as of late. So, let's discuss how to tie a fashion turban.

This is a great way to emulate the ladies of the nineteen forties and fifties, as this type of wrapping was made popular by actresses such as Audrey Hepburn. It is a very versatile and yet functional accessory that can be either dressed up or dressed down. It is just as suitable to wear poolside to protect the hair from moisture and humidity as it is for a day spent running errands. The best part is that it is a perfect way to hide a bad hair day!

It is possible to tie one with either a rectangular or square-shaped piece of fabric. The best tip to get a neat finish is to start with the hair pulled back into a ponytail or a bun. This will also prevent the fabric and hair getting tangled and provide a good base for the fabric to wrap around.

Square scarves should be folded across the diagonal line to form a triangle. This is then placed on the top part of the head with the triangle point hanging down in front and the two base points down by the shoulders. Ensuring that the hair is covered, the two sides by the shoulders are brought up and twisted around each other twice.

Then bring the two ends that have been twisted around the sides to meet at the back of the head. Tie the ends together in a secure knot to ensure everything stays in place. Tuck any fabric ends into the turban neatly.

You can also do this using a rectangle and without covering the top of your head. This looks more like a headband style of turban. You do this by placing the center of the fabric strip at the back of your head and bringing the two ends around to the front. Twist them like before and carry the ends too meet again at the back, then knot to finish.

Another way to tie a headband is to create a knot when the two sides are brought around to the front. This gives an added visual component that can be very interesting when done in a patterned fabric, such as stripes. Another good tip is to sew or tie fabric onto some flexible wire to create a piece that is easy to slip on and off as it is already in shape.

When you learn how to tie a fashion turban, you should really practice it to get different effects. There are loads of styles that you can use for all occasions. You can even let some of your hair show either from the top of the turban through an opening, or hanging at the sides of your face.
