The Requirements In Modest Islam Clothing

By Juana Gamble

How one dresses up actually says something about who he is, especially with regard to the aspects of morality and dignity. Now, when it comes to subjects like this, the Muslim dress code is one relevant topic. In the very liberated culture of this generation, theirs stands unwavered. For them, dressing modestly is a sign of respect for oneself.

Speaking of this, Muslims actually have set standards of decency in their way of dressing and this is greatly influenced by the teachings of their Quran. With this, you will see how deep their commitment in their religion is. They basically adhere to all the requirements issued in the stipulations of their Quran on modest Islamic clothing.

In Islam, there is actually a tight cultural ruling which bonds all its believers together. It even gives guidance in almost all aspects of life. Included in this ruling are matters concerning public decency which pin points the appropriate mode of dressing. Actually, they have no fixed style of dressing. Only that, they uphold some requirements.

The first requirement which Islams observe concerns which parts of the body should be covered. Very contrary to the modern culture implied by fashion right now, Muslims tend to cover all the parts of their body except for the face and the hand. Most especially, this rule applies to women whose body parts serve to be an attraction and sexual stimulants.

For the second stipulation, it requires that dresses be loose so that the shape or the outline of the body would not be revealed. With this, any clothing which is can make out the outline of the body is prohibited. Basically, tight fitting clothes can reveal the curve of the chest, the waist, the butt, and the legs which will basically attract attention.

Now, the third condition imposes on the degree of thickness of the cloth used to make a dress be decent enough as to conceal what it is supposed to conceal such as the color of the skin, as well as the shape of the body. So basically, see through dresses are strictly not allowed in their religion, nor is adhering to the modern sense of fashion. They are even made to cover their crowning glory.

The fourth condition emphasizes on the value of their overall appearance. In this case, they are reminded to uphold their dignified and modest position as a person. With that, they need to wear only clean clothes. Aside from that, other than adhering to the previous demands, they are also prohibited from making a scene by wearing overly colorful and flaunting dress.

With the fifth requirement, they are strictly forbidden to imitate the dressing of other people. In this stipulation, they are encouraged to take pride of their culture by upholding their style of dressing. With that, no matter what height the influence of fashion may reach in other places, they are forbidden to go with the flow.

They even specify the distinction between the mode of dressing for men and women. All of these rules actually came from the Quran. All it ever wanted to specify is the dignity and honor of which clothing associates to its wearer. Aside from that, they also strongly believe that a person is what he is seen through the way he clothes himself up.
