Violin Hand Posture And Why They Are Needed

By Aimee Schwartz

Listening and appreciating great music is one. Playing the sound ourselves is an all new different story. We do not need to learn how to play instruments in order to admire a good song. Those who go beyond just admiration and decide to learn how to produce their own are the very persons who spend time studying instruments and how to use them.

Practice demands time and effort. If you cannot give this, then you cannot maximize your learning. Violin is among those instruments that is a real challenge. From the basics of violin hand posture to the right angling of the arm, it all takes effort to master. These fundamental things are needed for they are the starting point of the process.

In fact, what you need is the contrary. The basics are the foundation. Without learning about it, you cannot expect to produce all those wonderful pieces that you hear today. Those who are considered as talented violinists spent enormous time and effort practicing their skills. It did not just dawn on them. They worked hard for it. Here are some importance of the right hand positioning when playing the instrument.

Less strain. One of the most common issue that different players of the instrument complain about is the strain that it can give to their elbows, arms and even neck. This is a given especially if you are new to the craft. Stiffness is usually observed. By positioning your fingers right, you are reducing the amount of stiffness on your entire arm.

Better sounds. The pressure that you apply on the strings of the violin as you hold them down can vary depending on the note. But they are all held own by the position of your fingers. The better the position is, the better the pressure is placed on them, making more quality sounds.

It gives more comfort. This is apparent as you go along with your practice. With the reduce strain, you will also not have a very hard time moving your whole body along with your arm movement. The pain may happen at first. As you get the hold of it, you become more comfortable.

Easier playing. Even the most seasoned musicians take some time to practice. This is not just because they want to rehearse. Its more like a need. The more they spend time with their instruments, the more they get used to it, paving the way to an easier mode of playing. This is not always a guarantee though. But those who persevered can attest to this matter.

It is a standard. Of course, we can call it as a protocol. You can be as creative as you can. You can play the instrument while standing or sitting down. But one thing that you cannot deviate from is the role of your fingers when playing it. If there is a basic skill you have to work hard at, it will be this.

Those who say that learning the violin is easy has either not tried it himself or is a genius who devotes his time practicing. You can learn it. But you have to pay the price needed for it. Forget about the shortcut method. It does not exist.Instead, think about the scheduling and stick to it. It will be hard at first. You are not alone in the sentiment. A lot of learners feel the same. The difference of those who succeeded is the dedication they placed on learning.
