Alligator meat has been accepted as another healthy option. It has lean meat with fewer saturated fats. It is also liked because of its nutritional value of many vitamins and minerals. Experts show that Alligator Jerky has more nutritional values than normal traditional choices. Chicken meat and beef have lower calorie count but in the form of fats. For this reptile meal, calories are stacked in proteins.

Of all the parts, many people like to order for tail meat. The next best alternative is either body or feet meat. The meal preparation also affects its quality. It is the best alternative for individuals who live healthily. People who only base nutritional qualities on calorie count may shun this option. Experts however recommend that individuals make comprehensive analysis. This means that they should not just base their choices on calorie content.

It is usually lean. This means that it has fewer harmful effects of cholesterol. Other meat has large amounts of cholesterol. This component usually clogs the arteries. The heart function is severely affected. People should take meals that have low contents of fat because they are healthier. More people should buy this kind of meat.

Experts also state that people should judge qualities of meals depending on vitamin and mineral composition. Alligator meat contains rich supply of vitamin B, potassium and iron. It has rich protein stores. The meal also contains enough diet fiber. The meal does not contain omega fats. People may be misled because most manufacturers will market the product in the category of sea food. It does not have exactly the same composition as fish.

The different body parts have differing nutritional content. Tail is the best because its major component is packed muscle tissue. These enable the reptile to maneuver in the waters. It contains little or no fats. Fatty meat can be found in the torso. Pieces derived from the feet contain enough proportion of fiber. This is what makes it hard to chew and digest. All its parts have near the same composition.

The quality of this meal solely depends on whether the animal had a healthy diet when it was alive. Wild alligators have their primary diets as shellfish and other small animals. This diet has a lot of proteins. That is why their muscles have a lot of proteins. Reptiles raised in commercial settings are normally fed with grains and other processed foods. This diet has more carbohydrates.

Reptiles which feed on carbohydrates tend to accumulate their body supply of fats. They lack enough mineral, vitamins and protein stores. This does not mean that they make low quality meals. It is only that their wilder option have more mineral, vitamin and protein content. Remember that preparation method affects food quality. It may be of low fat content but when cooked with a lot of butter, this fact changes . That is why people should have healthier options of food preparation.

Commercial preparations add a lot of preservatives. This is supposed to help in maintenance of shelf life, color and its taste. Preservatives are chemicals. These chemicals may change entire chemical composition of the meal. Naturally, this meat does not contain a lot of salt. Preservation using salt changes its entire value. Large levels of salt increases cholesterol levels.
