Basic Information About Arnold Prank Calls And Other Similar Ones

By Catherine Wallace

Pranks or practical jokes are mischievous tricks some people play on someone, normally to let a victim experience perplexity, embarrassment, discomfort or confusion. These differ from confidence tricks and hoaxes because victims are told regarding the joke after instead of tricking them into handing their money and other valuables. They are lighthearted usually without a lasting impact.

Their goal is to make their target feel humbled and foolish but not victimized and humiliated by using humorous affectionate gestures in encouraging laughter. Arnold prank calls are examples of these, where the callers use sound clips obtained from movies featuring the actor to fool another person into thinking the one calling is the celebrity. Digital applications are used by them, where recorded lines are chosen in talking similarly to them.

These were originally done by imitating voices of famous people while having these telephone calls that is easier since callers remain anonymous. Doing this became harder though because newer technology has been developed that lets you identify who is calling. These are caller IDs which could let individuals see names of the person calling them.

Pranksters also could use payphones because the receiving device cannot display their numbers but most people prefer not answering calls with no caller IDs shown. These are less common now since the payphones are fewer due to them getting phased out slowly. Their goal in remaining anonymous has become harder with these situations.

Another option is increasing in popularity which is using some VoIP services where telephone number will not exist simply. Tracing these calls are very difficult because they could pass through several servers and routers operated by different entities from various countries. Law enforcement agencies can trace them though but the required resources, effort and time is too great for an ordinary prank.

With more people on the internet, prank calls have increased their popularity again with some radio stations dedicating their content on this. Various submissions coming from the community are broadcast and featured on their channel by them. There are software apps which allows private sharing of pranks with fellow users in real time.

Sharing of personally created pranks calls through the internet is possible allowing their own community to get developed. They might share previously recorded or live ones with some systems giving listeners the platform of chatting with pranksters while they are calling victims. Giving suggestions to what they would say is possible including having some discussions.

Be careful though if you have plans of doing this yourself since laws against the joke being abused are there which is considered to be a crime. Calling emergency services while pretending immediate help is needed by someone or talking to them any random things are among them. If you call with the intent of abusing, harassing or threatening someone is considered a crime as well.

Another prank commonly done and considered a criminal act is when law enforcement agencies are contacted to report threats like explosives. This can cause inconvenience due to the area being searched or possibility of cancellation for the event there. They will trace your call and arrest you.
