Tips On How To Feed Before The Day Of Dance Competitions

Many dancers are not sure of what they should eat during the day of the competition. Being careful on what you eat on this day is very important. However, it is also important to keep in mind that proper hydration and fueling begins with daily nutrition. Proper feeding is not only important on the day of competition. You need to check your nutrition a week before the big day because this is when you will spend most of the time practicing and rehearsing, and you will also have a lot of anxiety. Showing up for dance competitions depleted from an exhausting week of practicing is detrimental.

For you to maintain discipline in your feeding, you should start by coming up with a plan. Take a book and a pen and draw a timetable that will help you know the type and amount of food you should eat on daily basis. Keep this book close to monitor your feeding behavior and to ensure that you are feeding right.

Be prepared in advance. As you draft the plan, get to know the foods that you can access without much hassle. This will ensure that you do not get stressed finding the food you would like to make part of your plan. There is always substitute for every meals. It is better to settle with substitutes if they are easily available and healthy to feed on.

Being a dancer will require you to know your body well. Although your body may behave differently due to the anxiety that comes with preparing for a competition, it should not be a reason for you to skip meals or to feed on junk or food that does not go well with your body. B you the end of the day, proper feeding will give you the confidence that you need to perform well on stage.

You should also avoid eating in a hurry. Being anxious or in a hurry may make dancers feed very fast. This may lead to poor chewing of the food or you may have gas due to swallowing excessive air. You will not want to suffer from indigestion or bloating. Have enough time to eat your meals slowly and mindfully.

Your body will also need enough water. Take about six glasses of water every day. Water is good for your metabolism and your skin nourishment. It will also enhance digestion, making sure you do not suffer bloating or constipation. You should newer wait to feel thirty as it is an indication of hydration.

During the last week to the competition day, you should avoid eating out, in case you are travelling, it is important to carry your own food rather than eat in hotels. However, in case you are not able to have your own meals, make sure you do not eat any food that you come across. Be keen when eating in hotels.

Also, remember that sleep is important. Experts recommend that one should have at least eight hours of quality sleep. In case you like taking stimulants such as caffeine, and energy drinks that may hinder proper sleep, avoid them. This will ensure you sleep well.
