How To Succeed As A Corporate Narrator

By David Peterson

Organizations and companies are always searching for talents to voice-over their materials. This is a full time engagement for many since there are emerging needs and the desire to produce new materials on regular basis. It makes a career as a corporate narrator a possibility. Since not everyone can take up the opportunity, here are tips that will enable your career to kickoff and blossom.

Work on language mastery. Organizations use different languages and require narrators who have mastered them. Since these materials are distributed far and wide, they should capture the best narration. Your intonations and pronunciation must be on point. These skills take time to master. Once you have polished them, you will have a chance during auditions.

Understand the products and culture of the company. It is not always about your language and pronunciation. You need to do the work with passion in order to put life to the narration. This requires a person who understands the products and culture of a company. This is why companies are selective on the voices they use. It feels as though you are narrating from the soul of an organization.

Brands and companies are sensitive about the people or voices that represent them. A wrong choice will compromise the reputation of a company. You therefore need to keep your reputation clean. If your reputation is damaged, there is possibility that no brand will want to be associated with you even when you have offered the best prices. Safeguard that reputation to raise your profile in the industry.

Attend auditions whenever they are held. Even with a magical voice, no one will offer you an opportunity if you are in oblivion. Display your talent with every opportunity that you get. Auditions also provide a chance to meet scouts of voice talents and be head-hunted. Whether you pass or fail the audition, you will learn a trick or two about voicing and getting gigs.

Distribute samples of your work to recruiting agencies and organizations that would be interested in your talent. You must always have the audios prepared as opposed to recording them in a hurry whenever they are required. You learn of some projects or auditions with a short deadline and have no opportunity to go to the studio. With a ready audio, you just present it and avoid missing the opportunity.

Keep your voice in perfect shape. Since you will be narrating, the voice becomes your tool of trade. Unless it is in good shape, you cannot get the opportunities. Any through infection or disease should be treated with urgency. Failure to act on time will expose you to vocal cord damage, a scenario that would herald your end. Take a lot of water, eat the right foods and avoid consuming food or drinks that can affect your voice. Shouting or activities that would affect vocal production should also be avoided.

It takes an outgoing and persistent talent to succeed as a voice talent. Develop a distinct voice that is easy to manipulate whenever the need arises. Take every opportunity available to showcase your talent and capture the attention of scouts. Protect your voice like you would to the most valuable asset.
