By Rose Winslet

What do you know about the men kimono? This is a traditional costume or the garment won by all Japanese. This is worn by all men, women as well as by children. What is the meaning of the term men kimono? Men kimono literally means "things to wear". Literal translation would have ki mean "to wear" and mono as "thing". This garment is T-shaped and long and straight. This straight robe falls down to the ankles, covering the entire body. The robe also has an attached collar. It also comes with two long sleeves.

The design of the men kimono is made so that its left side drapes over the right side when it is worn. This robe will be secured tightly using a sash. This sash is what is called the obi. The tightening will be done at the back of the dress. The men kimono is different from the female kimono in a number of ways. Women kimono can cost as much as 10000 US dollars each. You will find that men kimono belong in the same price range. Buying accessories for the kimono would naturally drive the price higher. For instance, if you want undergarments, obi, few sandals and socks along with the main dress, then you will have to spend around 20 000 US dollars to get a decent costume.

There are five aspects of the men kimono. Footwer is not one of them. If you look at the sleeves of men and women kimono, you will notice how they are different. The main dress of the men kimono has the sleeves attached to it. But in women's kimono, you will find that the sleeves are not attached to the dress.

You would also notice that men's kimono has sleeves that are not as deep as women's. Ever wondered why? This is because the obi would be easier to tie around the waist. The long sleeves of women's kimono will be on top of the obi. The overall appearance of both these garments is different. There are more colors when it comes to women's kimono. Colors are more sedate or subdued when it comes to men kimono.

There is a need to practice some care and maintenance tips and tricks with respect to men kimono. When washing or rinsing the fabric, you should do it gently. Then you should fold it in a proper way. Creases could develop if they are folded wrongly and you would have a difficult time removing them. Dry cleaning should be done and, if you wrap it, wrap it using paper.

The dress will usually be made from black silk. There are going to be five kamon on the part where the chest, shoulder, and back will be. There is also a three kamon kimono. But they are designed to be worn on less formal events. They come in many casual colors. Aside from light purple, they can also come in blue or green colors.
