Many people who are reggae fans are now looking for Burning Spear albums in their local music stores. This is due to the fact that his group and their songs have become classics in reggae. Most of their themes are actually influenced by people such as Marcus Garvey and Bob Marley.

Winston Godfrey Rodney is the real name of the main member of Burning Spear. He was born in Saint Ann's Bay, St. Ann Jamaica on March 1, 1945. Many of his popular songs are those that have inclinations towards the Rastafari movement.

His music career started Bob Marley advised him to start his career at the music label Doss's Studio One in 1969. It was originally named as Rodney's group composed of three people. They later on moved to work with Jack Ruby in 1975.

Their music became instant hits and a call for inspiration by many. They are a mix of messages related to politics, love, peace, and unity among mankind. This makes them important in promoting both reggae and the culture of the African people.
