LED TV: Does It Really Have Worth To Purchase It?

Do you have an LCD television in your house? Do you want to have the latest television on the market today? Probably, most of you will surely want to have the latest design of television sets. However, because of the expensive price, it is a bit hard to own this new piece of equipment.

Since you already know about LCD TV, have you heard about LED TV? Most people might think that LED is actually a term referring to Light Emitting Diode. So probably, they are known to be used on lighting facilities. If you have not yet heard about an LED TV, you may probably be confused on why it is called LED when this term is referring to lighting facilities. Below are some of the facts that you need to know about the existence of this newest television technology on the market.

It is not a New TV

If you have seen a lot of commercials or ads on the Internet or some of the sales person talking about this model as a new type of TV, you are probably lured by their marketing strategy. It is true that the name is a bit different from LCD but it is actually an LCD TV. However, a new kind of feature was added on the model to provide greater heights to the people who love to watch TV.

LCD TVs are actually using cold-cathode fluorescent lights known as CCFLs. Even if it is the same as an LCD TV, this model is different in some aspects. It is also different from plasma and OLED. The pixels of these TVs are considered as their own discrete light source while in an LCD TV, they need to be illuminated from behind. This model is using LED lights instead of the traditional CCFL to illuminate the pixels.

LED Back-lighting is better than Using CCFLs

Since we already talked about their primary difference, LED back lighting is probably superior to CCFLs. It means that if you will contrast LED and LCD TV, LED is better even if almost everything regarding them is similar. It will help lessen power use. It is said that this new unit applies about 101 watts compared to the 111 watts applied by LCD TVs.

It is almost as better as Plasma TVs

If you're speaking about the blacks in LCD TVs, which is considered to be its main disadvantage, the introduction of LED lighting using local dimming changed all things. It is said that it is nearly on pr using the deep blacks of plasma televisions. The picture quality is likewise fantastic. Furthermore, its more energy efficient compared to plasma TVs and they are undoubtedly light.

The only difference is that even if you sit on the side of the TV, the picture provided by plasma TV while it is still a problem on LCD TVs. Though there are not significant changes on the picture quality after the addition of LED back lights, this model is still worth the money because of the other features added.
