Americana Original Songs That You Will Love

By Cynthia Harris

If you are one of the many brooding acoustic guitar players that are out there who loves to listen to that type of music, you might check out the hit that was written by a guy named Justin Townes Earle. The name of one of these most popular Americana original songs goes by the title of Kids in the Street. This is a rather dark song that focuses on acoustic instruments.

Sam Outlaw has a track on his second album by the title of Everyone's Looking for Home. This is a song in which he gets very personal in his songwriting. If you want to hear something that is deeply personal and could mean a lot to you personally too, give it a listen.

It is always a good time when everyone gets up and starts dancing, stomping their feet, clapping their hands, and doing all those other things that people do when they are having a good time. A perfect upbeat stomper for this purpose is called Jackpot. It was written by Nikki Lane, and she puts a lot of energy into it.

All I'm Asking is the perfect road tune for most any situation when you are operating a motor vehicle. For people who love to take long road trips with their best friends, this is a great one to have on the stereo with the breeze coming in through the windows. It was written by a group called the Band of Heathens.

Just as the roads we literally drive down must turn or branch off in other directions, so to must we make changes of direction in our own lives. It is nice when we have the right kind of music to give us guidance through those troublesome times. A great song to listen to is named Hope the High Road, and it is sung by the band Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.

Still Drivin' by Paul Cauthen is a great tune to give a listen to if you have not already. A lot of people have never heard of this artist's album called My Gospel because, for the most part, it did not get a lot of coverage or attention. Cult followers of this artist know that the vocal range and the bluesy feel are great aspects of this music.

If you are singing about things like mental disorders and being a parent, it is important to approach it in a certain way so that people will want to listen to it. If this is the kind of thing that you are looking for, you might like This Ride. It is a song by the band called Shovels and Rope and it has a great way of handling these topics.

Amanda Shires has a beautiful voice, and you can really get into it in her song called Harmless. By starting the song off with nearly nothing else but her voice, she lulls you into a trance that takes you on a journey. Once you get deeper into the number, she starts getting into the more important things.
