Tips On How To Use An Ivory Silk Ribbon

By Michael Campbell

There are some items that you might think are useless and want to throw away before getting a chance to really get creative with them. Tapping into your crafting skills is not only fun, but can also save quite a bit of cash, as well as add a little bit of you into any project. Something like an ivory silk ribbon can be so useful in so many ways, that it is definitely recommended that you put it away for future use if you can't think of anything to do with it right now.

Ivory is such a versatile color that goes well with lots of other colors. The first thing that comes to mind is bridal, and lots of brides-to-be will choose ivory instead of white, especially when planning a wedding with a vintage feel. There are a number of ways in which the silk ribbon could be used in the bride's finished look, or you could incorporate it into the wedding decor.

In a wedding setting, you can tie a silk ribbon around where you will be holding your bouquet and finish it in a stunning bow. You could add a brooch or other sparkly decorative elements to give it a wow factor. You, as the bride, could also wear the ribbon in your hair to enhance your hairdo or tie it around your mid-section as a sash. You could add a brooch the same way in either of these suggestions.

The rest of the bridal party can also make use of a ribbon. Tying a ribbon around the flower girl's waist will look super cute when finished in a bow in the front or back, also on younger bridesmaids. Use ribbon to wrap around a basket or basket handle if the flower girl is going to be throwing petals down the aisle.

A ribbon can jazz up any look used as a choker: just tie it around the neck and secure at the back, or bring the two ends to the front of the neck to finish in a bow for a cute, girly look. Alternatively, string some large beads onto the ribbon to create a necklace of sorts. The beads can be switched up for a variety of looks.

Use a ribbon for a birthday gift or at Christmas time. Put the finishing touch on a wrapped gift with a fantastic bow - you can find a number of different bows in online tutorials. They can also be used on gift bags as well as wrapped boxes.

While on the subject of Christmas, ivory is a really great Christmas color. Weave your ribbon into a Christmas wreath or use it to hang the wreath up. Replacing normal string on tree ornaments with ribbon is a great alternative. You can even work ribbon into the ornaments as well using different techniques.

As you can tell, this is an item that can be saved and reused a number of times. Store it safely in a box with some tissue paper to preserve it for as long as you need to until it comes in handy. There are endless amounts of ways to make it useful, just by thinking a little creatively!
