Mobile apps are taking over the world!

By Klaus Ryan

Mobile apps are big business - it is an industry that is growing at a rapid rate, and it's showing no signs of letting up. And it's no real surprise to be honest. Mobile apps are brilliant and they serve all sorts of purposes. App developers are becoming more innovative and the boundaries of what can be achieved in an app are being broadened. That's great news for us!

Perhaps the most popular type of apps out there are the games. Think back just a matter of years and you'll remember how basic but brilliant mobile games used to be. 'Snake' on Nokia phones was about as good as it got when it came to mobile gaming. It was an instant hit and had people hooked all over the world. Today, mobile gaming is completely different and the graphics and gameplay have improved dramatically.

There are tonnes of music apps out there that will allow you to turn your mobile phone into somewhat of a jukebox. They have revolutionised the way we listen to music on the move - at the touch of a button, you can download or stream your favourite tunes. You'll often have the ability to search a whole world of music, meaning that you'll discover music that you never knew existed!

Not only do mobile apps let you listen to music, you can also create your very own music using all manner of apps. From synthesizers to recorders, you can arrange entire tracks using your mobile phone - and to a near professional standard (if you've got the skills).

One problem that causes problems for a lot of people is a lack of sense for direction. Especially in new places, it can be difficult to find your way around and you could waste a lot of time taking the longest possible route to your destination. With some of the latest navigation apps on the market, you'll have no excuses for getting lost ever again! Using your phone's GPS system, these apps will plan your route and point you in the direction you need to be heading.
